Last night was the debut of #TalentNet on twitter. It was an active one, making it one of the top trending topics on twitter, along with American Idol and Swine Flu.
What is is? #TalentNet is a hashtag event for recruiters that takes place the last Wednesday of each month at 9pm Eastern. Hosted through tweetchat, it provides a central home for recruiting professionals from various networks to engage, network & share resources through Twitter. The conversation was engaging, and when it was over many left with great comments. I expect the turnout to double or triple next month.
A couple of highlights referenced included tweets commenting on how odd it is that in an industry that is intensely personal, many do not understand concept of being social, how the industry continues to create unnecessary hype and tools to attract the masses vs. a find them and recruit model (i.e. mobile), to late night snacks.
For all the details, transcripts, and information you can join the #TalentNet group on facebook created by @susankangnam and @fishdogs.
Although I did not see it, it sounds like it could be a fantastic resource for networking for professionals in the recruitment field.

Great idea, lets get out of our shells and like you said, attract the masses. There are good things happening on social networks linked with HR, talent sourcing, and so forth
