What Networking was Meant to be 4 Comments

Last week I had the opportunity to host a networking event in the Twin Cities.  The intent behind the event was to create an opportunity for HR and Recruiting leaders to talk about trends, opportunities, share successes, and of course network.  An opportunity beyond a conference without formal  one-sided presentations, recycled content, or a vendor exhibit hall.

Sure, the setting was a 3 hour lunch on a motor yacht and the weather was amazing, but so was the company.  The topics floating around included diversity, recruiting, retention, employee engagement, and of course a splash of social media.

While there are many forms and definitions of networking I think I will stick to this one.  If you don’t find yourself with the opportunities to meet others in your industry or profession, create them.  Networking, while it has many definitions is a powerful thing.

A big thanks to CareerBuilder for sponsoring the event.
